Together Livelihoods and Food Security programs work jointly to ensure that each person has the tools and the choice to live in a secure and self-reliant community. HIJRA’s activities are targeted to initiate resilience for the most vulnerable. Our programs are focused on immediate emergency intervention and designed to unify theme needs.
HIJRA's programs in education have been designed to respond to the overwhelming needs of the urban refugee population in Kenya. Our programs are focused on the implementation of quality primary education in Nairobi; Komarock, Kayole and Eastleigh.
HIJRA aims to address the most basic needs of our Host communities. Our priorities for health are in providing treatment for common conditions by involving all available health providers, including local traditional healers and birth attendants. Our goal is to strengthen the local community; thereby enabling the communities we assist to become self-reliant.
Water and Sanitation
Since its establishment HIJRA has worked to implement programs designed to address emergency interventions in Water and Sanitation. Our WASH projects in Somalia work to implement improved access to safe water and essential public health materials for the displaced found throughout the many IDP camps in Mogadishu and The Afgooye Corridor.
